A Common Yet Complex Health Concern

Urinary tract infections are among the most common bacterial infections. Antibiotics are typically the first line of treatment for these diseases, which can affect the bladder, urethra, or kidneys, and are more frequent in women. UTIs can be categorized into two types: uncomplicated, caused by antibiotic-susceptible bacteria and associated with a favorable prognosis, and complicated, where multiple risk factors, such as comorbidities and resistance, may lead to treatment failure and a poorer outcome.
